Kenna Quotes
My 3 year old daughter Mckenna (kenna as people call her) says the funniest things! This is my way of making sure I record some of those things, which can be hysterical and infuriating all at the same time! It may just also be an outlet for me to vent about being a stay-at-home-mom of 3 young kids. Everyone says I should write down what my kids say...well here we go!

Christmas card this year? I think yes!!!
I saw a posting on facebook to earn 50 free christmas cards from http://www.shutterfly.com/ If you've known me very long, you'll know I have NEVER done a christmas card-some years I mean to, but I never get around to it. It's sad really. But, if I blog about their cards, then I will be sending out christmas cards!! Well let me tell you, the choices are almost overwhelming! Look! http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/christmas-cards I love all the different lay outs they have and the options. You can use black and white-which I always thinks looks great-or a bunch of pictures, or there is even one that has 1 picture that takes up the whole card, with a small "gift bow" on the side. REALLY cute! As a Christ follower, I really appreciate the cards that give me the opportunity to share what I truly believe about Christmas: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/religious-christmas-cards Before now, its been hard to decide if we will send out a picture this year, but this year it will be hard to decide which one to pick! I think I have an idea though! After looking at almost all of the choices, I REALLY love the Glitter Glamour Joy Christmas Card design. See it here: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/cards-stationery/glitter-glamour-joy-christmas-card-5x7-flat?sortType=1&fa=2&storeNode=93476&fe=17&fc=1 Check them out-I think the prices are pretty comparable, plus I am sure they will have great deals, they usually do! Look for a Christmas card from my family this year!!

1st grade
I actually don't have any funny things that Mckenna said. Well that's not true. I asked her a question tonight and she said "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Now the chances of that happening are slim to none!
Braeden starts 1st grade tomorrow and I'm so excited for it! He's not-tonight he started complaining about how he doesn't get to sleep in anymore...not a great start. I have been trying to figure out why I am so excited for Braeden to go to 1st grade. And I think I figured it out tonight when I was talking to Braeden. See, I LOVED my first grade teacher, Mrs Mackiewicz. I was in a 1-2 split class and I think I remember more from that class then most grades. Mrs Mackiewicz was a wonderful teacher and I just want Braeden to love his 1st grade teacher as much as I loved mine. I saw my teacher a few years ago in a Lee ann Chin's restaurant. She remembered my name and everything!
Braeden has Mrs Burns. She is the lead teacher for the team, and I guess she has wonderful and creative ideas. The day we found out who his teacher was, I was praying that God would put him in the right class for him. I truly believe that He has, and I am SO excited to see what God has planned for our family this school year!

Mckenna on...
Once again, it has been a long time since I wrote anything, so I thought I would share some of my favorites.
...sleep: "I can't sleep without you!" That's her new thing-she needs to sleep with people in order to sleep right now....kind of annoying.
...rules: "These are the rules. I. Don't. Listen." how true is that!
...love: "I love Daddy." Do you love me? "No. Braeden loves you." I guess she can only love one parent and I didn't make the cut.
...the elderly: "Look at that old GIRL! She's so old! Look at her! It's an old girl!" I missed this one, but Ryan told me about it. I think they were at the grocery store or something. She also likes to yell when she sees an "old man."
I am pretty sure there are a ton more, but my brain is fried at the moment. More to come!

Mckenna and Jesus
Since I have been catching some flack from certain people about not updating my blog, and I have a couple of minutes before my brain completely shuts down...I thought I would do that now.
I don't have any great quotes from Mckenna that she has said in the last couple of days -at least not any that I can remember-but I thought I would share my favorite one. One day, while we were asking Mckenna who she loves, Ryan asked her if she loved Jesus. Her answer was an honest, "no." So Ryan asked her why. "Because he has a beard and he eats fish." was her answer. Simple, honest and straight to the point.
I love that child. I am trying to enjoy her more and I think its happening. I realize that its not even so much what she says-although she's hysterical-but its also how she says it. She has so much expression and most of the time can't pronounce the words correctly. You put all these things together and it makes for a very entertaining day. Like tonight, for instance. While I was trying to get Reagan to sleep, she came into my room (although I told her not to) and needed to tell me how she brushed her teeth. "First I swish and then I sit (spit)." and then she proceeded to make a spitting sound all over my bed. Most people wouldn't think that was funny-but when it comes out of her mouth, its hysterical. I think if they could hook a video camera to her head, and somehow attach it to her brain so that yu could see the progression of thoughts, it would be a hit reality tv show! I mean truly how do you go from telling me a story about pretty much nothing to mid-word singing "Our GOD (heavy emphasis) is an awesome GOD."? I bet her brain never shuts down!
So Ryan is reminding me of a couple of things she said. The other day I picked Braeden up from a thing at church. I packed him a lunch and when I picked him up, he told me that he only ate the apples, which meant his yogurt and chicken sandwich were now icky. I was calmly telling him in a pretty loud voice about how he wasted the food and he needed to eat what I packed him, yada yada yada and I hear Mckenna from the back of the van. "Mom. Relax."
But one of my favorites happened on the first day of vacation. We decided to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese. Mckenna had been asking everyday for about 2 months or so if we could go, so we gave in. The last time we had taken them, Ryan kept teasing them saying we were going to the doctors office to get shots and then we went to Chuck E Cheese and Mckenna thought it was the funniest thing ever. So this time we are driving to Chuck E Cheese and Mckenna says "Dad, say we are going to the doctors." (they know where we are really going) So, we smile and Ryan says "Yay, lets go to the doctors to get shots!" And Mckenna says "no, you're joking!" and Ryan says, "Nope, we are going to the doctors" And then Mckenna actually starts crying "I wanna go to Chuck E Cheese! I don't want to go to the doctors!" We were laughing so hard because we played along with her joke....but I guess she forgot or something.
God gave Ryan and I this beautiful and challenging little girl for a reason-and I know that I will learn many things over the next years from her. Right now, what I'm trying to do is learn to enjoy her instead of trying to change her into what I think she should be like. That's what I am hoping this blog will accomplish for me-by writing down my thoughts and feelings and the funny things she says, I will be able to appreciate her for who she was created to be.

My first post
So, I have never blogged before and to be honest, it's kind of scary! I have never been one to journal, and although I used to love to write, I've kind of gotten away from it. So I hope that my ramblings make as much sense written down as they do in my head!
Even though this is supposed to be a blog with funny things my kids-especially Mckenna- have said, I can't think of anything right now! But I can say it was so fun to watch her interact today with other kids. We are spending the week up at the Alliance Redwoods Camp in Occidental, CA. It is a beautiful camp surrounded by giant redwoods. Ryan runs the camp for middle schoolers and my kids look forward to it all year long. Usually it takes them about 10 minutes after we get home for them to start asking when we are going to go back.
Today I was sitting in the snack shack with Mckenna and she was sitting on the window ledge listening to middle school students sing songs. As soon as they sang a song she recognized, Lady Gaga or a worship song (terrible combo, I know!) she would light up and look at me with a huge grin on her face. At one point she felt comfortable enough to start singing along. That's one of my favorite things-listening to my kids singing.
So although I don't have any funny quotes today, I am sure I will have something to share tomorrow!
